Another exciting week at ISS Paterson has culminated in a fantastically supported ‘Free Dress Day’; students brought in a considerable amount of food to be donated to the food bank. Thank you, parents, for purchasing these items and making a difference to those in need. Our PYP/MYP ESL Coffee Morning was well attended and I am glad that you were able to ask so many questions. Please do not hesitate to continue the dialogue with the ESL department, who are always keen to share their expertise! Out focus for our next Coffee Morning on Thursday 6 September will be ‘International Mindedness’ so I hope to see you then. We will begin promptly at 8.15 am in the Changi Hall. The classrooms are vibrant and full of students asking questions, completing projects, debating and inquiring into just about everything. I am always amazed and excited to see students completing tasks in their mother tongue as well as in the language of instruction. This shows student resilience and ownership of their learning. Today is Teacher Appreciation Day and I would like to thank our highly committed and experienced educators for their unwavering support of the students at ISS. As educators, I know that they never stop thinking about their students and how best to support them. Thank you teachers and TAs - you do a wonderful job! Middle School News After a few weeks of public holidays and disrupted weeks, we really got down to business this week. All classes have already made significant progress on this years curriculum. There is some wonderful engagement happening. This week I worked with students in the Homework Club, that occurs every Tuesday and Thursday after school. Students were working on everything from mathematical inequalities to mandarin studies and science concepts. Our students show the commitment and organisation to make themselves available for Homework Club, which is great to see. Student representatives Student representative positions were finalised and it is with great pleasure we recognise our new Student Council:
Mother tongue evening It was Mother Tongue evening with Mrs Bouteiller, Ms Cheng Fang, Ms Miho and Mrs Lee on Thursday night. We enjoyed a good roll up of parents, old and new to reacquaint and learn about this Language and Literature course.
