What a week! We started off with the International Schools Assessment (ISA). All students navigated the challenges of the ISA exceptionally well. The assessment will give us more insight into our literacy programmes and provide a valuable snapshot of data for reflection. The general consensus from students was very positive regarding the ISA. Barley any turnaround time and MS went from ISA to Parent/guardian Teacher Conferences (PTC). Always wonderful to see so many parents, family and guardians on the night. Going around and listening to conversations, suggests students and teachers are working well together. Furthermore, it reinforces the important role that parents and guardians play in supporting learning at school and in the home. A wee reminder that PTCs are not the only time parents can have a conversation with teachers. Please get in contact with your child’s teacher/s if you would like ask any questions. I have recently been appointed to the post of Learning and Teaching Advisor with English Schools Foundation (ESF) in Hong Kong. Whilst I am excited by the unique professional opportunity of working across the 17 Primary Schools and Kindergartens of the ESF group, it is with great sadness that I have to announce that my family and I will be leaving ISS at the end of the 2016/17 academic year in June. It has been an honour to be part of the ISS community and to work in such a great school. ISS has provided me with a wonderful professional experience but more importantly I could not have wished for a better school for my own children. I would like to thank all members of the ISS community for their warmth and support during our time here, I am pleased to say that I leave Paterson Campus in good hands as next academic year the current Heads of Elementary and Middle schools, Sharyn Skrtic and Michael Taylor, will become Elementary School Principal and Middle School Principal. This returns to the structure we had last academic year. I am sure that Paterson Campus will continue to grow and thrive guided by their excellent leadership. Message from Dr Alvarez Note of congratulations from ISS Please join me in congratulating Derek Pinchbeck on this fabulous achievement. ESF is one of the leading providers in international education in Hong Kong and is a very active participant in IB circles. I am so proud that ISS has been an important contributor to building the professional profile that has led to this appointment. Well done and although we are sad you will be leaving us, we thoroughly celebrate your achievement.
