The hall for full on Thursday evening. Science experiments in Middle School. Students in 4.1 were learning about Korean heritage during Heritage Time this week. Daisy and Lisa prepared google slides to share some information about the Korean culture. The girls then shared the Korean alphabet and numbers and the class practiced learning to write some Korean characters. Following on from our questions about Korea from last week, Grade 3 students then researched and reflected. Grade 1 students learned about Korean dancing. Thank you to the many Middle School parents who joined us in Serangoon Hall on Thursday 22nd August, such a wonderful start to the year. Dr. Alvarez shared latest news of the ISS renovation and construction project as we continue to move towards unification of the school. Middle School teachers outlined the year ahead and presentations were given about the Week Without Walls Service As Action field trips. There will be no regular Middle School classes and all students are required to attend the appropriate trip during the week 7th to 11th October, student learning will be outside ISS school i.e. “without walls”. There will be much more information about the trips in the weeks ahead.
Grade 6 students will travel to Telunas, Indonesia Grade 7 and 8 students will travel to Port Dickson, Malaysia Grade 7 and 8 students will travel to Sok Sabay, Cambodia Grade 4 and 5 students will also be involved in a Week Without Walls field trip to Bintan from 8th to 10th October. There are a couple of busy weeks ahead with several more information events for parents. Elementary School parents will have an opportunity to learn more about the campus unification at Preston Road as well as meeting teachers on Thursday 29th August, please refer to Managebac notice for more information. The first week of the swimming programme has been a great success. Swimming continues for the next 10 weeks and will finish with everyone participating in a swim gala on Friday 8th November, more details closer to the time. The new ECA schedule will be published soon, teacher taught ECAs will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Should your child like to attend an ECA from an outside provider, these will be on Mondays or Fridays. Next Friday is the last Friday of the month so it is 'free dress' Friday. Please encourage students who wish to participate to bring in a food donation for the Singapore Food Bank. These can be put in the collection containers in Rooms 15 and 16 and Grade 1 students will do some sorting of the food items collected. Upcoming Events:
