Elementary School News Paterson Campus has been a hive of activity this week, getting ready for International Day. with the inclement weather, plans had to be changed at the last minute, but the fantastic ISS teachers and organisers have made it all happen. Congratulations to all those involved in making this such a memorable event. The teachers have been working hard on your student’s report cards which will be available on 14 December. I have read each one and am amazed at the amount of work the students have completed this Semester. Well done, each and every ISS student. Next week the High School is presenting The Festival of Lights at our Preston Campus; this is open to all our parents so please feel free to find out more on our website. Students will enjoy their class parties next week. Please be aware that you should not send food that contains peanuts, as we have a number of students with allergies. Please also mark any food that contains pork. I am sure the students will have a wonderful time as they celebrate with their friends. The teachers will be participating in PD on Monday 7 January 2019. Middle School News The week of International Day is always an exciting time. Students across the school are excited to be able to showcase their culture and country. This year with the focus on Sustainable Development Goals it has given students and even better global perspective. WIDA testing Many students have worked hard on their development of English over the semester. Once On This Island Auditions, auditions, auditions. Mr Lebon and his dedicated crew held auditions for the Paterson Campus production this week. More than 30 plus students putting their hand up to become, what is a time honoured tradition at ISS, in being part of the production. Now the stage is being and set and the real work beings on rehearsals. ACSIS Football Mr Orgees champion U14 team continued their march this week against AIS. After the disappointment of a postponed game V Dover Court the boys were fired up for a big game against Australian School. Practicum Student This week we farewell Matthew Jasinska, who has been our practice teaching student for the last three weeks. Honing his skills as a teacher and learning from our very own experienced teachers, we wish Matthew all the best, as he begins his journey on a special vocational pathway. International Day What a magnificent day of recognising where we come from at the same time as understanding we all have an important role to play in this world we live in. Well done to all students and staff for our first ever Sustainable Development Goals inspired International Day. Last day of school. Last day of Semester One is Friday 14th December.
