This week we said goodbye to two visiting teachers from the Green Umbrella School in Cambodia, Ms. Dany and Ms. Sreymom. They spent the past two weeks working and learning together with Grade 1 and Grade 2. We loved having them here and we wish them well on their trip home. We look forward to continuing to build a relationship with the Green Umbrella School through our teacher exchanges and student collaboration. Next week is our last week before the October break. After the wonderful induction ceremony for the student representatives, the House Captains hit the ground running with the Middle School Spirit Week. The week traditionally leads into a major sporting event at school and starts to mobilise the students from their house perspective. Just a reminder our ISS houses are: Newton- Yellow Orchard- Red Raffles- Green Somerset- Blue The house captains ran a dodgeball competition and the winning house gained valuable points for their house. Results will be released next week. Spirit Week was leading into the MYP Swim Gala. MYP Swim Gala This swimming event is for Grade 6-10. It was held at the CCAB pool on Evans Rd. Whilst the day dawned dry for the Swim Gala, alas the heavens opened and all swimmers and staff alike got wet. Thankfully after one hour, the rain stopped and the gala resumed. Well done to all the PE staff for another successful event. Maximum participation and enjoyment was observed. For the record, Somerset (blue) were crowned Swim Gala Champions. Great to see so many parents join us at the gala as well. International Day Next Friday 6th October is International Day. One of the eagerly awaited events of the school year. The day commences at the normal school time of 8:00AM and finishes at approximately 1:00PM. Students should come in national dress of the chosen home country. Parents are encouraged to be part of the day and join in the celebration of diversity, that makes ISS so special. There will be workshops, musical performances, a parade of nations and a wonderful international buffet to mention a few of the activities. We hope to see you on the day. Reports Mid-Semester One reports will be available on Friday 6th October. The reports will be uploaded to ManageBac and accessible to parents and students alike. This report does not have any grades, as it reflects how the students have settled into a new school year. It contains the assessment of specific Approaches To Learning (ATL) for each subject and it has the Homeroom teacher’s comment. School Uniform Reminder that all students are to change out of their PE uniform once PE has finished. Of late students are remaining in their PE uniform all day. Please support us by ensuring your child has their school uniform and PE uniform packed into their bag for the appropriate time at school. No student should remain in their PE uniform for the entire day. This is the last blog for Term one! Wow a quarter of the year gone already.
