ISS Competition A Sense of Place is a competition for authors and illustrators. Through writing, art or both, students explore what it is that makes a place special to them, whether it be a special room in a house, a garden, a city, landscape or a whole country. During the break, take some time to have a conversation with your child about what a special place means to them, and encourage them to think about the medium in which they would best like to express their ideas. Entries will be due on Monday 6th February and prizes announced on Friday the 10th of February at the end of literacy week. For the authors’ submissions, writing will be judged on the 6 Traits of writing: ideas, organisation, voice, word choice, sentence fluency and conventions.
