Elementary School News In the PYP we work towards making connections between our units of inquiry and our host country, Singapore. This week the Grade 4 students were able to expand their inquiry into how governments influence behaviour by visiting the Singapore Parliament. The students were very excited and returned to school with a lot to share. As we come to the end of Week 6, we are looking ahead to some exciting events happening at ISS. Below you will find information on the Elementary School Sports Day as well as the ISS International Day. ES Sports Day - Friday 22nd September Please note that ES Sports Day is on Friday 22nd September @ Clementi Stadium. Students will arrive at school as usual on this day and will then be bused to Clementi Stadium. The day’s activities will finish @ 11:45 a.m. Parents can collect their children from Clementi Stadium between 11:45 am and 12 noon. There will be no formal school or lunch service at school in the afternoon. Parents are more than welcome to attend, however parents will need to make their own way to Clementi Stadium. If you would like to volunteer to assist in the running of track & field events at the Sports Day the event please sign up here - Parent Volunteer Sign-Up Form If you are unable to collect your child from the Clementi Stadium and you wish them to travel back to ISS please go to Return To School Sign-Up Form and indicate your preference prior to 12 noon on Tuesday 19th September. We need this deadline for the organization of buses. Students returning to school need to pack a lunch and will be supervised until 2:25pm. International Day International Day is on the 6th of October and it is quickly approaching! We are excited to share our cultures and celebrate together on that day. We would love to have as much parent involvement as possible and besides sharing the day with your children, here are some ways you can participate: Country Display: We will be making the Elementary School hallway display boards available to parents to decorate. Each board will be assigned a country and you are welcome to come by and decorate during the week of 2nd October - 5th October. If you are interested, please let Ms. Jasinska know by email which country you are representing so she can try to connect you together [email protected] Food: One of the highlights of International Day is the food! Please feel free to share your national dish with us that day. You can bring it in the morning for it to be kept in a safe place while you participate in the fun. Later, each country will have a table where you can place your food and we can celebrate the wonderful cuisines of the world together. We are all looking forward to International Day, and hope you can join us for a morning of fun!
