Amazingly next week is the last week before Spring Break so this will be the final blog before the break. Time has shot by once again and I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday.
Elementary School News This week in the Elementary School, the Grade 1 classes had full houses for their Grade One Poetry Cafe. The students recited their own poems to their parents, demonstrating their creativity and confidence. On Wednesday, our Grade 5 classes hosted 37 Grade 5 students from Binus School in Jakarta. Our guest students enjoyed a morning of attending Grade 5 classes and socializing during morning break. As ISS continues to participate in the IB world community and connect with other PYP schools such as Binus, the students were able to spend time sharing their thinking about their own school’s Exhibition journey. Students in School after Pick Up It is lovely to see parents and students enjoying the facilities at ISS to socialise after the students have been picked up. Please be reminded however that parents are responsible for ensuring that students are not interfering with ECA's, meetings or other activities taking place after school. Upcoming Events Wednesday, 15th March - Grade 5 field trip to Exhibition at Nexus International School Friday 17th March School Breaks up for the holidays Monday 3rd April School Starts again after the break Middle School News Well it’s go go go in the Middle School at this time of the year. Plenty happening both inside and outside the classroom. Moving towards a term break is always a busy time for learning. Teachers and students alike are trying to get their ‘decks cleared’ before a break. Making sure our students manage their time is a joint agreement between the home and school. It is a good time to check in with your son, daughter or ward about how they are managing their time. I know teachers are mindful of this, constantly. Next Tuesday 14th March, is quite a big sambutan. Feel free to join us in the MS Hall from 12:05pm. Some of the highlights are Jennifer Fox giving a presentation about ‘Animal poaching in South Africa’; its Pi Day around the world and Ms Sit will be acknowledging this through student action; and Dr Jeremiah will be talking about Earth Hour and how we can make a difference. All parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to join. Big news rugby fans: ISS has adopted South Africa for the Singapore 7s. Also known as the Blitzbokke, they are currently #1 in world rankings! ISS students will be involved in learning about the team, the country and a bit about rugby 7s. Sports Day is on next Friday (17th March) at the Physical Education and Teachers College, 2 Malan Road; Singapore 109433. Directions can be found at the following website: PESTA Singapore The event will be held at 8:30am and finish at approximately 12:00 noon. If students return to school, after Sports Day, they will be helping Mr Taylor on the School Improvement Programme (SIP). Parents/guardians are warmly invited to attend and cheer on the students. IMPORTANT: Parents/guardians need to wear their ISS identification card to enter the facility. Grade 5 into Grade 6 evening on the 12th April in the MS Hall.
