Our Preparation examinations have been going smoothly this week and it is clear the students have been spending time to prepare themselves and to get the best from the Preparation exams. They end for all students next week on Wednesday 23rd January.
We look forward to our Grade 10 Taster Day on Tuesday when our students will learn more about the various courses we offer in the IB DP and HSD and get a real taste of what’s to come. The day ends with a session on the upcoming World of Work where all Grade 10 students will participate in a 3-day job shadow or internship in a company placement in the community. As a part of this programme, we host an event called "Speed Careers", which is modelled after the speed dating format where students will rotate between different tables at set intervals of time. At the different tables, we are looking for professionals who have been involved in a range of career fields to whom students may ask questions. Questions will be related to their career paths, university majors and influences that have impacted decisions. We would love to have ISS community members involved in this activity in order to provide a wide range of careers and job-related experiences for students to learn from. What: Volunteers needed for an event that provides Grade 10 students with the chance to explore a variety of career fields through talking with adults who have worked in related career fields. When: Wednesday, 30 January from 1:45-13:00 (volunteers to arrive at 14:00) Where: Preston Campus Volunteer Sign-ups: Google Form Volunteer Sign-up deadline: January 25 Questions: Patricia Vlad [email protected] or Chris Hoddinott [email protected] These are just some of the many activities we run for our Grade 10 students as they decide on the educational pathway and career they wish to follow in the future.
