We had a fantastic representative of delegates at the Model United Nations (MUN) hosted at Overseas Family School (OFSMUN XI) last weekend. MUN is an educational simulation and/or academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. It involves debating, particularly in a political context, with students who are from different schools. It attempts to replicate a real United Nations conference, and allows participating students to develop awareness of current issues. Our students were involved throughout the two and half day conference. Topics such as Peace and Security, Human Rights and Environment to name just a few were debated and resolutions put forward with supporting arguments and evidence. MUN provides our students with opportunities to embrace the IB Learner profile as communicators, thinkers and inquirers.
This past week we have been focussing on celebrations and being grateful for all that we have achieved. Our Grade 11's were recognised at a MYP Celebration Assembly for their success in Grade 10 and received either a MYP Certificate, MYP Results and/or Language Certificate. Our Student Council hosted a wonderful lunchtime BBQ for the students followed by an after school ‘Teacher Appreciation BBQ’ for staff. This coming week, we have the Step One consultant meeting our Grade 10 students to review the Careers Assessment results and explain the report. The consultant is also available for one to one meetings with parents and students. The careers assessment is just one of many on-going activities we complete in preparing our students for the diploma programme. On November 22nd we have the IB Information Evening for all Grade 10 students and parents/guardians. Invitations for this event will be sent next week. Comments are closed.
