Our IBDP Grade-11 Chemistry students recently celebrated International Mole-Day by creating informative posters for the school community. Every year October 23 is celebrated from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m. as Mole Day by community of Chemists, Scientists, Chemistry students and teachers to commemorate the Avogadro's number (6.02 x 10^23) which is a basic unit of measurement in Chemistry. This time and date is derived from the number and the main idea of celebrating this day is to foster interest in Chemistry. Our students identified the contributions of Amedeo Carlo Avogadro an Italian Scientist in the field of Chemistry, learnt about the 'mole-concept' which is a part of their upcoming unit and created the posters to share this to the wider school community.
We had fantastic success in the sporting arena this week with our Varsity U19 Girls Volleyball team clinching the Gold Medal for their division. Our Varsity U19 Boys Volleyball team and Football team also completed their season and demonstrated great sportsmanship and development. We had a visit this week from Erdal (alumni class of 2014) who spoke to our G11 and G12 about life after ISS. It was wonderful to hear his inspirational talk and about his passion for Football that he has managed to make a career off.
