Welcome to the new academic year and I hope you have all returned refreshed from your break. This week there has been a real buzz around the school with returning students re-establishing friendships and new students encountering the 'stairs' for the first time! Our week started with many activities that introduced students to the High School. Students in Grade 9 and Grade 11 were engaged in many activities providing them with time to get to know each other and to deepen their understanding of the educational programmes the will be studying. Our Grade 10 and Grade 12 students got down to business quickly with Extended Essay and Personal Project activities that provided them with opportunities to think critically and focus on the coming year.
We welcome new staff members to the High School and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce them to you:
Jo Kys - High School Counselor
Kelly Millar - Humanities, History and ToK teacher
Alethea Bleyberg - DP and ToK Coordinator
Peter Russell - Humanities and English Acquisition teacher
Ayda Alp - English Acquisition teacher
Akbar Hussein - Mathematics Literacy Coordinator and Math teacher
Petrina Krishnam - English Language Support Specialist
On Tuesday, 14th August at 6:30pm we invite all high school parents/guardians to our 'Meet the Teachers' evening. We will share with parents information about our upcoming Week Without Walls trips along with information about the high school and educational programmes we offer. I hope many of you will come along to this first event at the high school.
Christopher Hayward: High School Principal
